Regular attendance helps students build routines, friendships, confidence and the skills they need for life beyond school.
Student Absences
All students are legally required to attend school every day unless there is a reasonable reason for their absence. We understand that students may sometimes be away due to illness, appointments, cultural reasons or important family matters.
If your child is absent, please notify the school as soon as possible by:
- Using the Compass app or portal
- Phoning the school on 9092 0000
- Email the school easterngoldfields.esc@education.wa.edu.au
If your child is absent and we have not been notified, you will receive a message by 10am. Please ensure your contact details, including your mobile number, are kept up to date.

Support with Attendance
If your child is finding it difficult to attend school, please contact us. We will work with you to understand what is happening and put supports in place.
Families can support attendance by:
- speaking positively about school
- building calm morning and bedtime routines
- limiting screen time before bed
- making appointments outside school hours where possible
- encouraging friendships, interests and school activities
- contacting your child’s teacher early if there are concerns
