Welcome to our website. Our school offers an inclusive, supportive and positive learning environment in which all children can thrive. Staff believe that all students can learn when their needs are catered for and they are engaged and challenged. Wherever possible, we deliver curriculum content through real-life learning opportunities ensuring that our students are ‘Ready for Life’.
Eastern Goldfields Education Support Centre ( EG ESC) is a government school specialised in catering for students with special educational needs in Years 7-12, co-located on the Kalgoorlie Boulder Community High School (KBCHS) campus kbchs.wa.edu.au/ for students in years 7 to 10, and Eastern Goldfields College (EGC) www.egc.wa.edu.au. campus for students in years 11 and 12.
All students are encouraged to develop skills relevant to their individual needs and to take pride in their achievements. All students are supported to embrace opportunities to fulfil their educational and personal goals in order to achieve their highest potential and be well prepared to live and work in a rapidly changing and diverse society. We have high expectations of our students and work in partnership with parents and other stakeholders to provide authentic and relevant curriculum that fits in with our school vision “Ready for Life”. Curriculums include, but are not limited to; English, Maths, Health and Physical Education, Zones of Regulation, Workplace Learning, ASDAN and Protective Behaviours
Each student has an individualised education plan or individual transition plan outlining their priority objectives while at school, at home and in the community. These plans also form the basis for reporting to parents on student progress.
We actively promote the acceptance and tolerance of individual differences in self and others, and encourage open and positive communication with all. Staff are encouraged to attend relevant, ongoing professional development sessions and to take an active part in decision making at the Centre.
Our school has a long and rich developmental history in the Goldfields dating back to 1946 which has helped cement the acceptance and role of our school well within the local community. The school has also moved locations several times to arrive at its current locations.
